11月6日，F1索伯车队官方宣布周冠宇和博塔斯赛季结束后离开车队，随后，周冠宇发布声明告别索伯车队，库尔图瓦也给周冠宇此条社媒点赞。

周冠宇2022年接受《世界体育报》采访时表示，他是多年皇马球迷，而库尔图瓦喜欢赛车运动，两人因此相识。
